2025/26 Rice-Giving Scheme Now Open for Applications
The 2025/26 Rice-Giving Scheme, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) and the Au Bak Ling Charity Trust (ABLCT), is now open for applications. Since its launch in 2010, the scheme has supported over 65,500 low-income families in Hong Kong. This year, it will continue offering eligible households a 5 kg rice pack either monthly or bi-monthly, benefiting 4,500 families.
Applicants must be Hong Kong residents, and the average monthly household income should not exceed 75% of the city's median household income. Priority will be given to those not receiving the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) or other periodic financial support. All applications must be referred by a registered social worker and submitted by 31 December 2024.

After careful consideration and evaluation, we are pleased to announce the list of successful candidates who will benefit from the 2024-25 Rice-giving initiative. This endeavor reflects our commitment to supporting communities in need and ensuring effective allocation of our resources. 2024-25 Rice-Giving Scheme Is Open for Application Now
The 2024-25 Rice-giving Scheme is now open for application. The application form can be downloaded on the Rice-giving Scheme page or you can get the form from one of the rice stations of HKFYG. Applicant must be referred by a registered social worker from: the Social Welfare Department, units subvented by the Social Welfare Department, member organizations of The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, Medical Social Services Units under Hospital Authority or schools.

2023/2024 Teachers-in-Training Scholarship Application is Now Open. ACT will again partner with the five Hong Kong universities - HKU, CUHK, EdUHK, HKBU and HKMU offering 20 scholarships to undergraduates’ students in reduced circumstances with aspiration to enhance the professionalism of teachers in Hong Kong.
The Scholarship is open to Year 2 onwards undergraduates’ students studying under the relevant Education degree programmes and is tenable for the normal duration of the study programme. Please visit the Scholarship page for details and applications.
Interviews will commence from 1 February 2024 and results will be announced on Mid of March 2024. Details of Scholarship Award Ceremony will be announced later.

2019/20 Scholarship Announcement After a couple of interview postponements due to the pandemic, our Trust finally conducted interviews with the selected candidates via ZOOM last week. We are glad to announce the 2019/20 scholarship review has been completed awardees will be notified by mail and certificates will be sent out by the end of October. Due to the continual impact of the pandemic, we have decided to cancel the 2019/20 Scholarship Award Ceremony for safety reasons. As regards the scholarship payment arrangements, please contact your university for details.

The Latest Arrangements for 2019/2020 Hong Kong Teachers-in-Training Scholarship Interview In response to the development of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust has decided to further postpone all interviews for the selected nominees to September 2020.

Postponement of 2019/2020 Hong Kong Teachers-in-Training Scholarship Interview We regret to announce that all interviews of the selected nominees have to be postponed again from the previously rescheduled date of April 2020 to May 2020 amid the pandemic. New dates for the interviews will be announced in due course. We apologize again for any inconvenience this may have caused.
2020/21 Rice-Giving Scheme Final Results Vetting procedures for the 2020/21 Rice-Giving Scheme applications were completed and the final results have been sent to Social Welfare Centres. Please be advised that we have received more than 7,200 applications for the scheme this year.
For your application result status, please check with your social service officer. Notification letters will be sent out on 1 April 2020.
February & March Rice-giving New Arrangements Rice-giving will resume this month for both the month of February and March. Due to the new coronavirus epidemic situation, each rice station will make different rice-picking arrangements in March. Postponement of Feb & Mar Rice giving event & Interview for the 2019/2020 Hong Kong Teachers-in-Training Scholarship Due to the developing pneumonia epidemic of novel coronavirus infection, both the rice distribution dates in Feb and Mar will be postponed as well as all interviews for the selected nominees for 2019/20 Scholarships. We shall announce new arrangements in due course.

Our Charity Announces with great sorrow the passing of Lord Au Bak Ling
Lord Au Bak Ling, the Founder of Ling Kee Group and Au Bak Ling Charity Trust ("ACT") peacefully passed away at the end of April 2019. All funds received from friends, relatives, and employees at the Memorial Service will be donated to ACT to further Lord Au's vision to assist the underprivileged in our society via our poverty alleviation projects.
2019/20 Rice-Giving Scheme Final Result All vetting procedures for the application under the 2019/20 Rice-Giving Scheme have been completed. We received more than 6200 applications for this year. Applicants can check the results of successfully applied/reserved (waiting list) /unsuccessfully applied on our official website. Announcement of 2018/2019 Hong Kong Teachers-in-Training Scholarship Scheme Results This year, a total of 105 nominations were received from our partners. After the interview, a total of 35 outstanding students were successfully selected to be awardees. Please click here for the list of awardees.
